LETTERS PATENT RENAMING THE CAPITAL CITY AND GRANTING A CHARTER FOR THE SAME

JAMES THE SECOND by the Grace of God of Hanover and Varennes King, Head of the Commonwealth, Supreme Governor of the Church of Hanover, Defender of the Faith, to all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting:
Whereas We for divers good causes and considerations Us thereunto moving are graciously pleased to bestow upon Our Capital City of Bergen a new name that shall better reflect the prevailing Anglophile cultural traditions of Our Realm:
Therefore Know Ye that We of Our especial grace and favour and mere motion do by these Presents ordain, declare, and direct that the said Our Capital City of Bergen shall henceforth be called the City of OXBRIDGE and shall continue to have the status of a CITY and shall have all such rank, liberties, privileges, and immunities as are incident to a City:
And We do further ordain, declare, and direct that said City of Oxbridge shall be composed of five Boroughs and that those Boroughs are:
The Borough of Wealdstonbury
The Borough of Huntington
The Borough of Whitechurch
The Borough of Queen's Quay
The Borough of Bradenton Market
And for the good order and government of Our Capital City We do herewith ordain, declare, and direct that there shall be a Council of Aldermen, numbering five: one to represent each of the boroughs, and that said Council of Aldermen, each serving a term of one year, shall be presided over by an officer to be titled the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Oxbridge, Escheator, and Admiral of the Port of Oxbridge, who shall be elected by the Council of Aldermen for a term of one year, but who shall, following his election, receive his appointment from the Sovereign through Letters Patent:
If, however, there be no Aldermen to form a Council, the said office of the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Oxbridge, &c. may be filled by the Sovereign of his own will through Letters Patent for any term which it may graciously please him to designate:
In witness whereof We have caused Our Letters to be made Patent. Witness Ourself at Wealdstonbury this third day of May in the first year of Our reign.
