It was announced today from St. George's Palace in Bergen that His Majesty the King has expressed his good wishes to Jason, the former emperor of the Most Serene Empire of Ascalon on the occasion of his departure from the throne in the wake of Ascalon's demise.
A few months ago, the Imperial legislature of Ascalon, known as the Conclave, voted to dissolve the empire in the face of a severe decline in participation. Although some Ascalonians wished to preserve the community, in the end the emperor gave the Imperial Assent for the Act of Dissolution.
In the wake of the empire's collapse, some former citizens, desiring to continue their experience together, formed a successor nation styled "The Kingdom of Augustiana". A prominent former Ascalonian, Rebecca James, was installed as Queen, although it is thought that this kingdom has not endured.
On behalf of the King of Varennes and his subjects, I extend my warmest personal best wishes to the former emperor. His Imperial Majesty was a great friend of this community, and his presence shall be sincerely missed.
