THE MARCHMAINS STAND FOREVER

In days of yore, from Vincent's shore
King James--the shepherd-king--arrived,
And planted firm in this new soil
The seeds of a new realm contrived.

Those seeds which mighty oaks became
Have braved the stormy weather,
And just as oaks endure all storms,
The Marchmains stand forever!

Bound are we sons of Hanover
By ties no man can sever.
God save our King, for by God's grace,
The Marchmains stand forever!

When Thomas Marchmain-Cutterham
Received from James the orb and crown,
From conquest did he spare this realm.
A patriot King of great renown!

No foreign crown our hearts may tempt.
We shall depart thee, never!
All patriotic souls shall with
The Marchmains stand forever!

Bound are we sons of Hanover
By ties no man can sever.
God save our King, for by God's grace,
The Marchmains stand forever!

Though not a Marchmain, Alexander
Wore the crown in Marchmains' stead.
But when the crown he set aside,
He placed it on a Marchmain's head!

And now King James, the second of
That name shall lead us ever.
His throne, secure, still stands because
The Marchmains stand forever!

Bound are we sons of Hanover
By ties no man can sever.
God save our King, for by God's grace,
The Marchmains stand forever!

Nefarious traitors plotted, schemed
To rob our liege of power and might,
But Good King James destroyed the Whigs,
And after darkness followed light!

All patriotic tongues declare,
With James we stand together!
One Hanover! One King! One House!
The Marchmains stand forever!

Bound are we sons of Hanover
By ties no man can sever.
God save our King, for by God's grace,
The Marchmains stand forever!

Still do the Marchmains rule the land,
In splendour and in glory.
St. George's Palace still their home,
The showcase of their story.

A prelate may stand for his Church,
A Whig for treason, ever.
The Germans stand for order, but
The Marchmains stand for ever!

Bound are we sons of Hanover
By ties no man can sever.
God save our King, for by God's grace,
The Marchmains stand forever!
