My Lords and Gentlemen,

In light of the recent appointment of the Noble Lord, the Duke of Gottingen, as Justiciar of Hanover, I consider it no longer appropriate for him to serve as the Speaker of this House. Hanoverians have repeatedly voiced their opposition to unnecessary concentration of power in one person's hands; and especially in the case of combining the speakership with the premiership, Hanoverian history shows how dangerous such a move is.

Therefore, I beg to move the following Resolution:
Quote:BE IT RESOLVED That this House does relieve His Royal Highness the Duke of Gottingen of his duties as their Speaker.

My Lords and Gentlemen,

I remind the Parliament that no division is called at this time.

I am, in general, in support of the outcome of this resolution. In fact it merely preempts my own effort to shed the office. I will happily save this house the effort of the resolution if His Majesty shall simply send me either his personal dismissal or even just his intention to name another.

God save the King

My Lords and Gentlemen,

Capital. Not being privy to the decision-making process these days, I had interpreted His Royal Highness' recent appointment as an attempt to once more combine the two offices in one person on a long-term basis. Clearly this is not the case, and I applaud the Noble Lord for his willingness to avoid a constitutional timebomb of this sort.
My Lords and Gentlemen,

Perhaps Count Damoneigh or the leader of the Whig party might be interested in taking my place?

God save the King
While I would be willing totake office, I am afraid I should not due to possible conflict of interest in merging different powers in my hands. I wish to work with the Bishop of Kells.

My Lords and Gentlemen,

I withdraw this Resolution. I am confident that, when a replacement is found, the Speaker will voluntarily resign his office.
