My Lords and Gentlemen:

In the first place, allow me to express my appreciation to Parliament for the passage of the bill waiving further probationary citizenship for myself and others. I'm am very grateful for this courtesy.

I do have a question, however: what is the procedure to be followed when a Member of Parliament wishes to question the Justiciar or another member of the Government. Is there anything, for example, akin to Westminster's Prime Minister's Questions? If not, what method is followed?

Christopher Livingston

My Lords and Gentlemen,

Our custom for a few years now has been that ministers are subject to Parliamentary Questions at any time. In the past we had a set Question Time, but it never really worked very well.

Members who have questions for the ministers should, therefore, simply post them. Presumably the minister in question will respond as soon as possible.
My Lords and Gentlemen:

Would the Justiciar say that such questions be posted in this forum or should they be posted to the Chamber?

Christopher Livingston

My Lords and Gentlemen,

Current convention is that all discussion except on Bills and Resolution goes here, so yes, I think this is the appropriate venue for questions.
My Lords and gentlemen:

I thank the Justiciar. Is that the correct protocol, incidentally, or should one thank the 'Right Honourable Member'?

Christopher Livingston

My Lords and Gentlemen,

I think the most strictly proper form would be "the Right Honourable Gentleman, the Justiciar". But I think it would be much easier just to stick with the title alone for our purposes.
My Lords and Gentleman:

I thank the Right Honourable Gentleman.
