Alexander Rex et Imperator

ALEXANDER THE FIRST, by the Grace of God of Hanover, Varennes, and Morovia King, Emperor of Laitenburg, Duke of Gottingen, Defender of the Faith, and of the Church of Hanover Supreme Governor, unto Our right trusty and right entirely-beloved Cousin and Counsellor His Royal Highness, the Most Noble, Potent, and Illustrious Prince, Justin Leopold Albert Christian George, Prince of Emden, Duke of Guelph, and unto all our most loving, faithful, and obedient subjects, Greeting.

Whereas the Laws and Conventions of Our Realm of Hanover place in Our hands the prerogative of naming Our Own Heir and Successor to Our Throne, to be preferred before all others whenever the succession to Our Throne is determined;

And Whereas We find it meet that Our right trusty and right entirely-beloved Cousin and Counsellor His Royal Highness, the Most Noble, Potent, and Illustrious Prince, Justin Leopold Albert Christian George, Prince of Emden, Duke of Guelph should succeed to Our throne upon Our demise or abdication;

Know Ye Now that it is now Our good Pleasure that Our beloved Counsellor, the said Prince of Emden, be recognized, acknowledged, and acclaimed as Our rightful Heir and Successor to Our Throne, and none shall question his right and title in that respect;

In Witness whereof We have caused these letters to be made patent, Witness Ourself at Our court of Saint George's Palace this Seventh Day of May in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Nine in the fifth year of Our reign.
