A Bill to reform the procedures and composition of the High Court of Chancery.
Part I. Preliminary.
1. This Act may be cited as the Chancery Act 2007.2. If it has recieved the Royal Assent, this Act shall enter into force upon the thirteenth day of September in this present year.
3. For the purposes of this Act,�
(i) to be "passed under the Great Seal", a document must bear the impression of the Great Seal, and must be published in the Royal Gazette;
(ii) the "Commission of the Great Seal" is the document appointing the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal;
(iii) the "First Lord of the Great Seal" or "First Lord" is the appointee listed first in the Commission of the Great Seal; and
(iv) the "Chancery" comprises the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal, or any one of them.
Part II. The Great Seal of Hanover.
4. Any document which has been passed under the Great Seal shall hold force as an act of the Hanoverian Crown, subject to the law.5. The King may pass any document under the Great Seal himself, subject to the law. Such documents shall bear the subscription "Per Ipsum Regem Propria Manu Signat".
6. The King may command the Chancery to pass a document under the Great Seal, by means of an Order in his Most Excellent Privy Council. Such documents shall bear the subscription "Per Breve de Sigillio Privato".
7. The Chancery may pass documents under the Great Seal in the King's name by their own authority, subject to the law. Such documents shall bear the subscription "Per Breve Regis".
8. Documents issued under Section 7 of this Act must bear the countersignature of the First Lord to hold legal force.
Part III. The High Court of Chancery.
9. A Commission of the Great Seal shall terminate upon the resignation, death, or dismissal of the Lord High Treasurer.10. Upon the appointment of the Lord High Treasurer, the King shall issue a new Commission of the Great Seal, therein appointing him as First Lord of the Great Seal.
11. The other persons appointed as Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal shall be such as the Lord High Treasurer advises.
12. The First Lord shall determine the procedures and regulations of the Chancery.
