Dread Sovereign Lord:
First of all, please accept my apology for failing to use a more formal petition to bring this matter before Your Majesty. I know that some of my colleagues in your Government are in the process of drafting template petitions for future use here at the Court of St. George, and I do hope I have not violated rules of the Court by utilizing lay terms in the interim.
Acting herein on the advice of your ambassador to the Most Serene Empire of Ascalon, I would like to request your permission to draft and, subsequent to your review, transmit to the Ascalonian Department of Foreign Affairs, a letter from the Crown apologizing for and expressing the disappointment of the Government at the actions of Christopher McQueeny, alias James S. Livingston, the right honorable Prime Minister of Hanover, in the events which have been brought to light in the case Rex vs. James Livingston, currently under litigation in the Ascalonian Court of the Emperor's Bench. The letter is intended to show the solidarity of the Crown and Government in this unfortunate matter, and assure the Ascalonians that the Prime Minister will be held accountable in Hanover for his actions.
It is the opinion of my office that reaching out to His Majesty's Government of Ascalon right now is a necessary move for the preservation of peaceful and sound relations with the Most Serene Empire, one of our Hanover's closest allies. Concerns have been raised that the silence (to date) of the Hanoverian Crown regarding this matter, for better or worse, may be construed to be indicative of the Hanoverian government condoning the Prime Minister's actions.
Thank you very much for your attention.
