An Act to establish and ordain a national anthem of the Kingdom of Hanover.

Be it enacted by the Kings’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords and Commons in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

I. General Provisions

1. The National Anthem shalll be "I Vow To Thee, My Country", by Cecil Spring-Rice.

2. The text of the National Anthem shall be:-

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

3. In all official renditions, the National Anthem shall be set to part of the music of "Jupiter", from the "Planets Suite", by Gustav Holst.

II. Usage of the National Anthem

1. A rendition of the National Anthem must be given at all state events at which the Monarch is attendant in person.

2. Renditions of the National Anthem, in any form, may not be sold for profit, or used in the promotion or production of any profit-seeking enterprise.

III. Citation and Commencement

1. This Act may be cited as the "National Anthem Act 2004".
2. This Act shall hold force upon the receipt of Royal Assent.
