My Lords and Gentlemen,
As I am given to understand that Parliament presently lacks a Speaker, and I have extensive prior experience as Lord Chancellor and Lord Keeper, I now intend to stand for election to that office. As I believe it to be vital that the Speakership be now filled with an active citizen, I propose that we use a simple unanimous consent motion.
Moved, that the Lord Oldenburg be now elected as the Speaker of this present Parliament.
This motion will pass in three days unless an objection is heard. It is not necessary for any Member to speak in reply to this message, unless he objects.
