I'm very pleased to welcome all of you to this Task Force. This is the brainchild of myself, but primarily His Majesty and the right honorable Prime Minister, and they deserve a great deal of credit for giving their attention to this most important national issue.
For the first week--from now until the end of the day on Friday, February 2--this task force will be in organized chaos mode, with a relatively unmoderated discussion on the naturalization system as it stands in Hanover right now. I encourage all of you, regardless of what nation you are a citizen of, to share your views, ask questions. We really want to hear from a variety of people on how the current laws affect them and those they know (or not).
After the week, the Prime Minister will select several people, representing a broad spectrum of backgrounds, whom he would like to be included in the final group, which will be charged with more intensive follow-up research after reviewing the initial discussions. Ultimately, that group will compile a group to be presented to His Majesty and myself, and from there, I will likely sponsor legislation in Parliament and/or change Home Office policy.
As always, should you have any questions, His Majesty's Government is at your disposal.
