With the general slowing of the hobby, one of our main concerns is the preservation of history and culture. We are of one of the oldest cultures in micronationry, but even our culture is being lost at an alarming rate.
Some of this is due to war and conflict, but much is due to indifference.
The Microwiki II is a good tool, but it may be too little, too late for a lot of nations.
An amazing amount of creativity goes into the most mundane nation.
I ask the opinion of the delegates.
My opinion is that a united front is needed to help keep nations afloat, give them a greater chance of being noticed, etc.
I like a MicroWiki idea. Maybe a committee could be set up (if one does not exist already) to save fora and websites from purges.
Imperial Ras Charles
Shireroth operates a MicroWiki (though that's having technical problems lately).
The Apollo Foundation served a function not unlike this, though the emphasis was more on preservation of archives. I would like to see a resolution forming a committee similar to that. I think though, a Trusteeship Council is doomed to failure. A dead nation is a dead nation.
A dead nation is a dead nation.[/QUOTE
Sigh.
But how dead is dead?
I don't know. Maybe the Commission could preserve archives unless/until the nation resurrects?
The MNN microwiki is IMHO vital in keeping the hobby as a whole in the public eye, so to speak. However, what should also be addressed are the causes of the "slowdown" which are myriad. Some cannot be helped (rl problems, work commitments, etc) but there are others that can, especially the intollerance towards certain ideas that has been, and is, a unfortunate feature of this hobby in certain quarters, especially amongst the "old guard".
As perhaps one of the most ancient of micronationalists, what new ideas? I would like to hear them, or, if it would gum up the conference, send me a link!
