The Hanoverian Standard Time Bill

A Bill to establish United States Eastern Standard Time as the official time zone of the Kingdom.

Whereas Hanoverian Standard Time is currently co-ordinated with the Greenwich time meridian, despite the fact that only one subject of the Crown resides near the said meridian;

Be it therefore enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. This Act may be cited as the Hanoverian Standard Time Act 2007.

2. Hanoverian Standard Time (“HST”) shall be co-ordinated with and identical to the time as established by the United States of America for the Eastern North American time zone.

3. HST shall be employed for scheduling all official functions in the Kingdom. Where no time zone is given, in shall be assumed that times are given in HST.
My Lords and Gentlemen, the intent of this Bill is self-evident. Hanover no longer has active citizens in England and Australia as it once did, and hence now co-ordinating HST with GMT is only an inconvenience and a confusion to new citizens. A preponderance of active Hanoverians (HM, me, Prince Justin, etc.) live in EST for most of the year, so I think that is the most logical choice for a Hanoverian time zone.

This Bill is now open to discussion and amendment. If no amendments are moved, it will come to a vote on passage in five days, on the 8th of July.
I lend my support to this bill. The Stand Time zone should be whatever time zone in which His Majesty resides --at present the Eastern Time Zone.
My Lords and Gentlemen, I beg to move that this Bill do now pass.

The Question is that the Bill do now pass. May all who are of that opinion say Content, to the contrary, Not Content.

My Lords and Gentlemen, the Contents are four, the Not Contents nil. The Contents have it.

On Question, Bill passed.
