I'm currently reading "Habsburg: Embodying Empire"

I recently read most of the Red Dwarf books.
The authorship of the series is rather interesting. Doug Naylor and Rob Grant wrote the first two, "The Universe Welcomes Careful Drivers" and "Better than Life" together, they the split up and each wrote a third novel diverging from the same point at the end of "Better than Life".
I've long heard fans bemoan the fact that Grant Naylor split and that the two third books were inferior. I've only had the chance to read Doug Naylor's third book "The Last Human", but I have to disagree with the common negative assessment.
It was certainly different. It was a divergence, but it was an intriguing one. It's darker, and sadder, and it does "conclude" the story, but it's not an inferior book.
I hope to lay my hands on Rob Grant's third book soon.
