Full Version: My Vision of Our Empire

Good Reader,

As our two nations explore the possibility of an Empire, I felt it important to tell you all how I personally envision an Empire.

Most importantly in my vision is the benefits I require an Empire to achieve to be worth while.

Increased Activity: To be successful our nations must experience an increase in activity. This is a reasonable result. The more citizens a nation has, the more activity it should experience. Activity is critical to a nations long term success. More interesting people makes for more interesting conversations.

Increased Citizen Services: To be successful our nations must experience an exchange of talent where-in one nation has access (or greater access) to currently unavailable resources. Two examples seem obvious, Richard Roelofs University and a bank. More will come. Infrastructure is like that. Build a road, and soon enough a road side cafe pops up.

Increased Stature in the Community of Nations: The term "Bug Nation" does not apply to either of our nations, and an unification makes it even less likely. With unification we will do what has failed so many times in the past. We will show the community of nations that cooperation, friendship, respect and work build results. Results that turn heads. Results that will make other nations ask "Why can't we do that too?" It is no small thing to be the leader. I wish this for both beloved nations.

Efficiency: Why pay for two servers, when we can easily and effectively share one?

Preservation of Identity: In the USA it is common for citizens to identify themselves as either citizens of the USA (Americans) or by their local state (New Yorker), and sometimes by even more localized designations (San Franciscan). The images, meanings and other trappings of the individual nations must remain unmolested.

Preservation of Traditions: Both nations have a strong tradition of freedom, respect and democracy. This must not change.

Everything which has been discussed so far in the Committee on Unification is very much in line with these criteria. When called upon to make any final decisions I shall use this criteria to guide me.

For me, the Empire is a means to an end. Separately Hanover and Pendronia are excellent nations, but we can make them great. Together we shall have a power so many smaller nations lack. We will turn that power to build and build and build. Why shouldn't we build the city on hill that so many others have dreamed of?

The future is ours, if only we will take it. For me, Hanover and Pendronia do not stop after any final treaties of unification are ratified. That's only the next step along the destination to great.

We have great people. Our nations are filled with example after example of out standing individuals. If we can nourish their creative abilities we will see our nations reach heights even I don't dream of. An Empire is the proper soil to plant our fledgling hopes in.

Regards,
HM Alexander of Hanover
*standing ovation*

Your Majesty, I fully agree with your statements. I for one, do not see the Unification as the end of Hanover, if we do this properly. We do have the ability to preserve our traditions and to make new ones and build. I think activity is one of the more important issues and one of my main reasons for supporting this merger. Pendronians have wonderful minds and dedication and I look forward to working alongside them in the Imperial Capital...whatever it shall be called.GOD SAVE THE KING!
