For the information of the general public, the following Order in Council was approved today by His Majesty the King:

Quote:Whereas, by Royal Proclamation bearing date at St. George's Palace of 6 October 2006, it was decreed that a Parliament should be summoned to attend upon His Majesty the King beginning 16 October, 2006, for a period indefinite;

Whereas His Majesty the King did declare by instrument a State of Emergency postponing the date of the State Opening of Parliament until 23 October;

Whereas the causes for His Majesty's declaration of a State of Emergency have subsided and it shall no longer be necessary to postpone the date of the State Opening until that date;

Therefore, His Majesty in Council, being of the opinion that it is in the best interests of the Public Service to do so, on the recommendations of the Lord High Chancellor and the Secretary of State for Home Affairs, hereby declares that the State of Emergency declared by His Majesty shall be at once lifted and that the State Opening of Parliament shall be rescheduled to occur on Friday, 20 October 2006.
