Following the glowing example of Hanover and Pendronia, the ancient and well-repected nations the Imperial Republic of Shireroth and the United Baronies of Treesia are planning to unite in a similar way, forming a superpower encompassing all the remnants of the Apollo and Tymarian tradiotns that still remain.

Of the two plans that have been suggested, one is very similar to the plan we are currently following - i.e. get a committee together to sort it all out, and then let each nation approve the plans - but the plan that currently has the most support is a pact for the immediate mergin of the two nations along quite simple lines. The Shireroth-Treesia merge, in fact, appears to be much more of a merger than the Hano-Pendronian alliance. Whereas we are keeping the individual kingdoms separate, Shireroth-Treesia will be uniting as one nation.

This is an important development, and it will be interesting to see how things go, as it seems that this merger will happen long before the Hano-Pendronian alliance is finalised. Should this merger occur, it may well lead other smaller nations to consider merging, to form a new balance in the microworld. With the Hano-Pendronian alliance and the Shireroth-Treesia merger in the near future, it looks like these two, along with Babkha, will be the superpowers of a new era of micronationalism...

My good friend Thomas - do you remember the Raspur Conference and the Charter that was proposed there?
See, that is something I would more like to do, a straight unification. While I am not advocating an abandonment of either Hanoverian or Pendronian traditions or ways, I would like to abandon two seperate nations under one, because at the end of the day its still two seperate nations under one and I do not think we would have as much success unless we are one.

Just my two elms! smilie
Rakesh - yeah, I do. But that wasn't really a merger, was it? More like a YAMO...

Sigare - I would be okay with that, but I don't think enough people on either side would be. The best way forward will be to go for the two nations under one thing, and then work slowly towards greater unification. Perhaps we'll set up a political party within the Empire - the Unity Party?

Edit: I just read the latest posts on the Shireroth thread -now I understannd what you mean, Rakesh. But was the Raspur Organisation ever going to have a central executive?

We're being told of Shireroth and Treesia and we're comparing our unification to their "merger"..."

I don't get it. Can anyone else not see the similarity between what we are doing here, and what they are doing there?

I think it's a great thing that micronations are finally starting to combine their strengths - this tendency might one day lead to the kind of 100+ citizen micronation that would forever end the problems of dual citizenship, inactivity and multitasking that currently exist. And Siskind - Shireroth's Foreign Minister - said himself that he was inspired by our merger. Well I think that's worthy cause for some self-congratulation on our part.
watch out. The number of micronations will be reduced to 5.
I'd rather have less micronations with more citizens each, than more micronations with fewer citizens. I think that's the basic philosophy behind any unioon or merger.

Egonations just aren't fun...
No, they aren't fun. smilie
A pity, all I can access now is Issue 3.
