Your Majesty:

While I love Baron Sigare's designs for the Order of the Act insignia, I believe you should probably amend the existing letters of creation, which contradict those designs:

From the Royal Gazette:

JR

JAMES, by the Grace of God of Hanover and of Our other Realms and Territories King, Emperor of Calormen, Head of the Commonwealth to All Our Loving Subjects Whatsoever to Whom these Presents shall come, Greeting.

WHEREAS it is fitting that we shall have at Our disposal a means for honoring those of Our subjects who have offered notable service to King and Country, and for honoring those of Our friends who have ever been faithful,

WHEREAS it is meet that such honored subjects and friends should be united within a bond and brotherhood of chivalry according to ancient custom and venerable tradition,

LET IT BE KNOWN that it is Our Will and Pleasure that the MOST NOBLE ORDER OF THE ACT be created and established within Our Realm,

AND WE DO FURTHER subject this Noble Order to Our own constitution to be maintained in perpetuity, the articles being

1. That the Most Noble Order of the Act shall be secular in character, having no patron other than the Sovereign of the Order, neither shall there be a religious code, nor shall a chapel be established,

2. And that the Monarch of Hanover shall be the Sovereign of the Order and shall alone enjoy the right to enroll persons in the Order,

3. And that if the Sovereign shall deem any of his subjects fit to belong to the Order, he shall be at liberty to enroll him,

4. And that the Sovereign shall be at liberty to enroll foreign persons of distinction into the Order,

5. And that there shall be but two classes of Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Act, namely those of the Knight Commander and of the Knight Stranger, and that subjects of the King of Hanover enrolled in the Order belong to the class of Knight Commander, and that foreign persons of distinction belong to the class of Knight Stranger,

6. And that no member of the order shall be compelled to swear an oath, neither shall an oath be composed,

7. And that no secret codes or agendas shall be created, followed or permitted,

8. And that the Sovereign of the Order may expel members for reasons which he deems grave and substantial,

9. And that the motto of the Order is "Actions speak louder than words,"

10. And that the insignia of the order shall consist of a sword, a cap, a cape of royal blue, a sash of royal blue worn over the left shoulder, a collar, a badge and a breast star featuring the motto and the symbol of the Order,

12. And that symbol of the order is the letter "A", and that said symbol shall grace all of the insignia of the Order.

THEREFORE we do now, by these presents create and establish the Most Noble Order of the Act and its Constitution,

AND WE DO THESE THINGS ALL at Our Court at Marchmain Palace on this Twelfth day of May in the Year of Grace 2003, the Second of Our Reign.

Also, should anyone want to design insignia for the Order of Hanover:

JR

JAMES, by the Grace of God of Hanover and of Our other Realms and Territories King, Emperor of Calormen, Head of the Commonwealth to All Our Loving Subjects Whatsoever to Whom these Presents shall come, Greeting.

WHEREAS it is fitting that we shall have at Our disposal a means for honoring those of Our subjects who have offered notable service to King and Country,

WHEREAS it is meet that such honored subjects should be united in brotherhood,

LET IT BE KNOWN that it is Our Will and Pleasure that the MOST EXCELLENT ORDER OF HANOVER be created and established.

WE DO FURTHER subject this Excellent Order to Our own constitution to be maintained in perpetuity, the articles being

1. That the Most Excellent Order of Hanover shall be secular in character, having no patron other than the Sovereign of the Order, neither shall there be a religious code, nor shall a chapel be established,

2. And that the Monarch of Hanover shall be the Sovereign of the Order and shall alone enjoy the right to enroll persons in the Order,

3. And that if the Sovereign shall deem any citizen of Hanover fit to belong to the Order, he shall be at liberty to enroll him,

4. And that Citizens of Hanover alone shall be enrolled into the Order,

5.And that the Order shall not confer knighthood, all those enrolled being known simply as "members",

6. And that no member of the order shall be compelled to swear an oath, neither shall an oath be composed,

7. And that no secret codes or agendas shall be created, followed or permitted,

8. And that the Sovereign of the Order may expel members for reasons which he deems grave and substantial,

9. And that the motto of the Order is "For the Glory of the Realm,"

10. And that the insignia of the order shall consist of the badge worn about the neck, supported by a ribbon of gold coloured silk,

12. And that symbol of the order is a lion couchant and that said symbol shall grace all of the insignia of the Order.

THEREFORE we do now, by these presents create and establish the Most Excellent Order of Hanover and its Constitution,

[9. And that the motto of the Order is "Actions speak louder than words,"]

Is that really the motto? Woah! I was going to suggest that be made the motto...well now I don't have to! But I think it should remain the motto! And, I think we should use your design for the Order, James. If Baron Sigare would merely change the color of the sash to royal blue, that would help...that is the main thing, I believe. The "A" is on there in the form of the Royal Cipher, I like the white horse on there myself. But I forgot how you had it emplaced. Yes, Lord Sigare making it blue would help, as I always thought that it should have been blue!!! You know, until now, I didn't notice it was red... <_<
Lord Sigare, I think you should take the supposed look of the Orders into consideration. Now...you have what the design of the Order should be for the OH, now you can put it on my arms. And you know, James, I thought Knight Commander was a high place in the Order...but I just have a necklet with the current design...I should have the collar, I thought...
I think at this point the best idea would be for the king to issue new letters to match Baron Sigare's excellent work. It would be much easier to issue a simple document then to have the poor Baron re-do all of that. I also prefer the horse to the letter "A".

I'm not sure what type of representation of the insignia you ought to have in your achievement, Prince Justin. Sigare is the expert.
I guess so, James smilie I am just fond of the blue. But anyway, the LP would be easier to go along with sigares work than the whole darn thing being re-designed. This is a new dynasty in power you know, some things will chage.... smilie

I also suggest His Majesty make the LP to make the Guidelines of the Order of the Act compatiable with Lord Sigares designs.

Baron, Could you make the Order of Hanover. And this time, look above and follow the look of it for the design smilie No, I love your design for the Act...smilie But I like the design of the OH, gold ribbon and with that there should only be the necklet I think cause there is no degrees.

With Respect and Esteem,

+Justin

P.S. be sure to keep Actions speak louder than words as the motto for the ACT!
Could you have a more clichéd motto? <_<

smilie
Gentlemen,

I originally created the regalia of the ORder of the Act based on two things:

- The Roll of Honor, which listed Knight Commander, Knight Bachelor (for citizens) and Knight Stranger (for those pesky outsiders).
- Pictures and design that Prince Justin had sent me.

I created the regalia and as it developed, I made some alterations to the organization of the Order:

- As one of the highest (that I am aware of at this point) orders in Hanover, and as with any order issued by the King, the King becomes the Grand Master of the Order, or Grand Commander (GCOA) as you will as he is the fount of honor. Now the King was never listed in the Roll of Honor in any of the other classes so I continued with this that the collar would be for the GCOA, the necklet KCOA, medal hanger for both KBA and KSA.

- Red is the color of the Order of the Act due to its central location surrounding the horsey. I can definetly see a nice royal blue be applied to the Order of Hanover smilie

In addition to this I have also been working on the Most Noble Order of Gagarin as well. Suprise!
The motto, while tres cliche, entirely speaks to the reason behind the order's very existence. The Order of the Act was established to celebrate the efforts of active citizens as opposed to those who receive citizenship and then disappear or those who talk alot but don't do much of anything.

In light of that, I think the motto was entirely appropriate. I believe, however, that the new motto should be reflected in revised letters because there it is, all over the insignia designed by Lord Sigare. His designs being magnificent, they should not, at this point, be revised.
Quote:I created the regalia and as it developed, I made some alterations to the organization of the Order:

I'm not going to take issue with that because what's done is done and it all worked out for the best and all the changes, I presume, enjoy His Majesty's blessing. Nevertheless, only the Sovereign of the order (not "Grand Master" in this case) may make organizational changes, and that ought to be adhered to in the future.

Quote:2. And that the Monarch of Hanover shall be the Sovereign of the Order and shall alone enjoy the right to enroll persons in the Order,
-from the Letters creating the Most Noble Order of the Act

As to blue for the Order of Hanover, keep in mind that gold was decreed in the Letters Patent, and it would require another royal act to change it. I don't think it's a good idea, however, to change the regalia of an order of chivalry every time a new king is installed. Embellishing it is one thing, but fundamentally altering it really isn't a good practice.
