Folks,
HRH Prince Justin asked me to post these a while back, BUT I got distracted. SO, here they are now.
Deal.
Regards,
HM Alexander of Hanover
Well, I really admire the design at the bottom (olive branches & crown). Regardless of whether or not the bee symbol is used, Prince Justin's design is precisely the type of simple, elegant and imperial looking coat-of-arms I had in mind.
As I look at in, in fact, I suppose the shield could even be quite complex and the overall design would still remain neat and clean. Perhaps, even, the use of a medallion as opposed to a shield would serve to eradicate that slight tinge of mediaevalism about it, in favour of something truly classical.
I could also envision the utter lack of a shield, with a simple, meaningful symbol of our empire floating in the center of the wreath. For example, were we to select the bee, simply erase the shield on Prince Justin's image and you'll see what I mean.
The hives I can't say I'm fond of, however.
Lord Sigare: I believe they are thoughts as to what our Hanover-Pendronia alliance's arms might be.
I like the wreath, but I can't say I really see the bee as a symbol of a great nation. They're rather small and unlikable things... And I really don't like that limp ribbon thing at the foot of the shield. Sorry, Prince Justin. I guess we have diffeent tastes.
The ribbon tying the two branches together lends elegance to the design and makes it more interesting than it would be without. It is possible, however, that if it's length were reduced a bit, it might garner greater appeal.
Interestingly, a design very similar to this is found on the obverse of old Hanoverian Thaler coins.
It wouldn't garner greater appeal with me. The whole idea of a ribbon at the base of our coat of arms is what gets me, really - ribbons are not a very "imperial" thing.
I'm coming to the gradual conclusion, Thomas, that nothing which I advocate would garner much appeal with you. I'm sure you'll get your way, however, so fear not.
How are the talks going?
Determing what to name the entity.
What have you all agreed upon, so far, prior to arriving at the "naming" stage?
we established the rules of the committee and elected a chairman.
we have a list of issues needed to be discussed
