Gentlemen,

I've been searching around for a useful project I can do for Hanover, in which others can also take part should they feel the inclination. While there are several that I have in mind to do, most of them will be very much affected by whether or not we end up in an Empire, so I'm going to hold off on them until that matter is decided.

In the meantime, I have decided to make it my task to find as many active micronations (that is, in the sense of the word "micronation" that Hanover uses - plus secessionist attempts, etc.) as I can, and collect information on each of them. My hope is that this will significantly broaden the perspective of Hanover when looking out upon the wider micronational community, and that it will begin a process of networking which will create a genuine micronational community, in which all micronations can interact.

I have no idea how long this will take, and I think it's likely to be an ongoing project, since new nations are born and die quite often. Most likely, I will be publishing my work on a website, to be updated every so often (every weekend, perhaps).

When I have completed entries for all the micronations which are already known to me, I will request that anybody who knows of an active micronation which is not on the list to send me the name and the website address, so I can add it. That way, everyone can help out.

Some people might be thinking - such a list already exists, on micro-nations.org, but as far as I'm concerned the list displayed there has become so corrupted with inactive and immature projects as to become practically useless. The list I will create will contain detailed information, and it will be updated manually by me.

So there it is. I'll be posting progress reports to this thread every so often, as I have news to report.
How do we send you info
tom_cutterham at yahoo.co.uk

But don't send anything until I say so, please - there's a long list of nations that I already know about to get through before I need any new information. I don't want to be swamped straight away.
Duke of Brunswick,

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA.

I often wish I has a "definative list" I could reference. I know some very good lists already exist, but I'm sure you'll soon eclipse them.

Please let me know what support you might require from the Throne.

Regards,
HM Alexander of Hanover
Have you tried gorging at the 'relations' portion of http://www.micro-nations.org? It auto-updates, inactive nations aren't included.
Relations section? I'm not sure I know what you mean.

I know that the directory automatically cuts out entries which haven't been "updated", but this is far from perfect as a way of removing inactive nations. There are plenty of one-man-bands who update their own directory entries, but could hardly be called a micronation. I'm not going to include that kind of thing on the list.

But perhaps there's something I'm missing out on?

Your Majesty,

You know, I don't think there is any particular help I require from the Crown or the Government. I will certainly present the list to you when it is complete - although, as I say, it will never be truly finished. Perhaps, when I reach that stage, it could be hosted on the Hanoverian webspace, if that is possible. We're far from that stage at the moment, though.
My good Duke,

Quote:it could be hosted on the Hanoverian webspace

ABSOLUTELY!

HM Alexander of Hanover
Great - thanks!

How much webspace does Hanover actually own (in reality - the space you own that you set aside for Hanover), and how much do we currently use?
Thomas, I'm currently waiting on the age breakdowns to arrive from the Emperor. As soon as I have them I'll send the full information request along to you. Hopefully it'll be within the coming week if all goes well.
Thanks alot. I think that info will be the most interesting of the lot. At last we'll be able to get a decent idea of the size and diversity of each micronation. It's proven pretty hard to get the information, though - virtually nobody seems to have census information on their website...
