The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.</center>
WHEREAS it is His Majesty's Will and Pleasure that a certain number of Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses be present in Parliament, there to treat with Him on such grave and arduous matters as presently concern His Kingdom : Now therefore in pursuance and exercise of the Royal Prerogative of His Majesty in Council in this respect, and by and with the advice of His Privy Council, is pleased to order, and doth hereby order, as follows :
I. That the High Sheriff, Lord-Lieutenant, or otherwise Returning Officer of a County shall, upon receipt of a Writ of Election, immediately cause the same to be read and displayed publicly amongst those of His Majesty's subjects residing in the same County.
II. And That the aforesaid Officer shall allow a duration not extending past Wednsday, the Fourteenth day of December, to elapse following publication of the Writ of Election, during which such subjects as are desirous of standing for election as a Knight of the same County in Parliament shall announce their candidacy, and make such notices of their intended course of action upon securing said office as are necessary and proper.
III. And That on Thursday, the Fifteenth day of December, the aforesaid Officer shall despatch unto each subject resident in the same County a ballot of election, and shall tabulate in secret the results collected from the same.
IV. And That on Monday, the Nineteenth day of December, the aforesaid Officer shall direct unto the Lord High Chancellor a Return of Election, the form of which is set out in the Schedule to this Order, certifying the name of the person elected as a Knight of the same County in Parliament, after which he shall not recieve or tabulate any further ballots.
V. And That this Order shall cease to hold force on Tuesday, the Third day of January, in the year of Our Lord Two-thousand and Six.

Form of a Return of Election</center>
THIS INDENTURE, made the Nineteenth day of December, in the Third year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord Alexander the First, King of Hanover, between [Name and Title of Returning Officer], for the one part, and divers others of the County of [County] WITNESSETH that, according to the form of the Writ hereunto annexed, after proclamation made in the full County Court, holden the day and year aforesaid, the said residents of the said County who were present at the making the said proclamation, according to the form in the aforesaid Writ specified, have chosen [Name of Person Elected], to be a Knight for the said County, girt with a sword, fit and discreet to be and appear in and at a certain Parliament, specified in said Writ, who has full and sufficient power for himself, and the whole body of the said County, to do and consent as is required by said Writ.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I, the said [Title of Returning Officer] of the County of [County], have caused my hand and seal to be hereunto set, the day, year, and place, above written.
