Marchmain Palace
Bergen

Ladies and Gentlemen:

As I plan to resume a relatively active role in Hanover in the near future, I felt it appropriate to avoid confusion and to simplify matters by resuming the use, here, of my given name and by leaving off the use of the honorific "Your Majesty". That and the name Louis I will reserve for use in Varennes.

Henceforward, with regard to my presence in Hanover, I will be known simply as "His Royal Highness, The Duke of Marchmain", while also retaining the Marquisate of Valsinore. From here on in, only their Majesties, the King and Queen should be addressed as "Your Majesty".

However, since the new royal family has opted to reside in that rather Kremlin-esque looking pile on the other side of town known as Gagarin Palace, I trust that His Majesty won't mind at all if I continue to hang my hat here at Marchmain Palace. It's a simple 1000 room palace, but it's home. And while the throne room has been converted into a disco and the changing of the guard ceremonies have disappeared (my splendid legion of red-coated lifeguards has been replaced by one goose-stepping cossack carrying a rifle), there's still that marvelous balcony...and cats. Lots and lots of cats in this neighborhood. <_<

Hopefully that guard won't scare them all away. Tomorrow he gets a new uniform: pantaloons, wig, tricorn hat and a lace handkerchief. I'm declaring this palace and it's grounds a Russophile-free zone! Vive la France!

Here, kitty, kitty, kitty...
With powdered wigs required, no doubt.

I would suggest keeping that seedy jewelry salesman away, you never know when L'Affaire Collier will repeat itself and cause a King and Queen to lose their heads (literally) smilie

Don't forget the white makeup and moveable mole. Snuff box optional.

Please don't say "necklace" too loud around here...and there's nothing in that wall safe except watches, I swear!
Mes amis, I am just recovering from the terrible flu. It is an epedemic here in Tennessee. There were over 200 unfortunate individuals out of school this week beacause of it, including myself.

L'affair du collier, eh? I just finished watching that movie with Hillary Swank, good movie! I just feel sorry for Marie-Antoinette. Tragic. smilie Keep that collier du diamonds under wraps Your Royal Highness. smilie

*Cough, cough, cough*
Your Royal Highness,

I am making a full recovery. I still cough from time to time and am slow and my head feels like a balloon one minute and a anvil the next but besides that I am ready to put on the coronet again...more wieght for my head smilie Well, get in touch Duke of Marchmain, get in touch. Dominion of Athenoi, we'll have her up and running in no time, I hope. Get in touch!

With Respect and Esteem,

HRH Prince Justin de Marchmain of Hanover
The Duke of Guelph
Glad to hear from you, good cousin, and to know that you're alive and well. By now you've no doubt read my most recent emails and perhaps have received my card. One of my emails heavily touches upon the topic of heraldry for Varennes, responding to your question, and I look forward to your reply.

We'll see progress in Varennes, soon. For now, however, there's alot of researching, thinking, writing and designing to be done. And so here I sit at Marchmain Palace, alone, the Queen and the princes and princesses gone off to Varennes to party day and night while I labour on the details. Well, not completely alone. I have Guillaume, my lone manservant sent over from Varennes, Roland the part-time chef and Joaquin, the driver provided by the state. He speaks no English at all, I feel like I'm back in New York, it's wonderful.

Somedays I can look out and see young lovers kissing and cuddling in the royal park below my window. That is, of course, why I keep these water balloons handy...and why I've set all those bear traps.

Get well soon, cousin!
