King Louis of Varennes

VALENCIENNES PALACE
Capet, Varennes

03.29.05

Our Beloved Former Subjects:

From the very day of Our abdication from the throne of this, Our child, the Kingdom of Hanover, Our heart has ached for the friendship and affection of the people Whom we had grown to love so very deeply. We remained connected to you as Duke of Marchmain for a time, and it was ever Our delight to interact with all of you, old familiar faces and newcomers.

We recall with bittersweet sentimentality the era of the Marchmains in Hanover. Queen Anne and I were so unquestionably proud to reign over such a fine people throughout this remarkable Commonwealth of Nations. Emperor and King, We observed great struggles between political parties to steer the fate of the nation in one direction or another, and always with every party seeking the good of the whole kingdom.

Such luminaries as Thomas Cutterham (late our successor), Robert Gresham, Kieran Evereste, Steven Foong and so many others there from the outset aided us in creating a community in which many other talented and visionary persons would congregate to embellish upon the existing structure, transforming a simple dwelling into a palace of splendour. There were conflicts between church and state, between left and right, between Parliament and Crown. Through it all, Hanover grew and became a very unique society: anathema to the mindless, a home to the thoughtful.

As many of you know, the Dominion of Chambord--formerly the Republic of Morovia--has been proud to host the Summit of Three Kings, or '3K Summit', at which King Alexander, King August Charles of Gotzborg and myself have been engaged in discussions with regard to the future of our three nations, in particular the future of the utilization of human resources within our nations.

One of the more controversial propositions of this Summit was the idea for we three monarchs to, from time-to-time, exchange thrones. Many have expressed disbelief at the very proposal. More still expressed shock that we actually agreed to implement that proposition.

While We are sensible of the confusion amongst you which such a decision has caused, it is imperative that you trust that what we do is what we know is in your best interests and what is in the best interests of our kingdoms. It is the role of the king to, like a father, know best, just as it is the role of his subjects to trust and to lend their support.

A result of the implementation of this proposal is that I shall again, if only for a brief time, know the joy of reigning over you again, my dear and beloved people. During that time I will be known again--here--as King James. Anne and I, with the Royal Family, look forward to once again holding court at Marchmain Palace and to reliving the joys of those days of yore.

Until that day shall come, know that you are in Our thoughts and that we look most sincerely forward to embracing all of you in Our loving and paternal arms once again.

With affection and esteem,

James R.
In Gotzborg, I believe, it was mentioned that as the kingd swap nations, the constitutional systems of their home nations would go with them - so Hanover, under King James, would become an absolute monarchy. I assume that part of the proposal has been dropped?
When is this taking place?

I love this idea very much.
Hmm...interesting. I don't have any problems with it--in fact, I rather like it--but I do hope that when the time does come for a monarch swap, King Alexander works closely with our new monarch to ensure continuity.
Are Your Crowns on too tight? smilie

This is by far the strangest proposal in the history of the world. Although, I think Ill support it, it is still very strange. Yay, Marchmain Hanover!
