Hanoverians,

The kingdom faces a difficult time, when several of our key citizens are unavailable. Under these circumstances, it is necessary to institute some procedural changes to the goverment. The purpoe of this is to make the best use of our human resources, and to provide the best possible government to the kingdom and its people.

The legislative function of the kingdom will be taken up by His Majesty King Alexander and his Privy Council. His Majesty shall make laws according to Article 25 of our Constitution of Bergen, with the countersignature of a Minister of the Crown. However, focus will be shifted from Parliament to the Crown and his Ministers. The Government will not introduce laws to Parliament, but will instead pass them directly by Royal Decree. This Direct Rule will not require changes in the Constitution, nor is it a State of Emergency.

Although existing Ministers will retain their positions and will be expected to carry on with their jobs, all other Ministerial responsibilities will be taken over by the Privy Council as a whole. This collective government will enable us to focus on our top priorities, and to pool ideas and workloads. The whole nation will be expected to participate in the government of the kingdom, by getting involved in policy discussions in Ellicott Square and the Citizens Retreat, and most importantly by volunteering for specific projects that will be set up.

Elections to the House of Commons will be held during the first half of April. The number of seats to be contested and the specific date is yet to be decided. When effective Parliamentary government can once again be established, Direct Rule will be brought to an end.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Thomas Lord Brunswick
Lord President of the Council
Deputy Prime Minister
I'm very disappointed to hear that the Privy Council has decided to take this drastic step. I don't see the need for autocracy to be imposed on a nation like Hanover which is proud of its democratic way of life.

With all due respect, I think the instead of resorting to autocracy since the old boys club, so to speak, is unavailable, we should let newer Hanoverians step up to the plate and see how they can do running the nation.
Mr. Smith,

Your point is well taken. We have no intent to suddenly act like the proverbial bull in a china shop running rogh-shod over the will of the people. In fact, it is exactly the opposit. The Parliament has become paralysed due to recent losses and thus the legislation is stalled. It is Our intent to inact the will of the people as expressed in the parliament WHILE the parliament is returned to operational status.

Does this help?

Regards,
HM Alexander of All Hanover
The current status of Parliament:

Edgard Portela's seat - VACANT
Kieran Evereste's seat - VACANT
John Harvey - on leave
Matt Beuchner - still around

Therefore, my suggestion would be to hold elections for Parliament as soon as possible, and in the interim the Privy Council can govern. Return to democracy should be a priority.
Mr. Smith,

This is exactly what We are doing. However, the constitution does not give authority or power to take some actions to the Privy Council, but only to the Legislature and the Crown. Thus, with the advise and consent of the Privy Coucil and of all the Subjects We shall take the actions as needed.

Do you think We wish to do away with the traditions and heritage of Hanover?

Returning Parliament to full function is Our main goal, but until then the actions of government should not grind completely to a halt.

You, and all Our subjects, can and should, act as voices of reason on all legislation and other actions. Surely by now you know that We value your input?

Regards,
HM Alexander of All Hanover

LONG LIVE THE KING!!

post scriptum: what are the crown and coronet used in the heraldry?
Good Evening, Everyone,

'Tis Moi, of No Opinions . . .

However, if I might be allowed to interject just one TINY thought . . .

NOW, I know that several of our Citizens are indisposed, for one reason or another . . .

Heaven knows, I was one of those who was indisposed, so I know the feeling very well - too well, actually . . .

SO, that being said, I do believe that Your Majesty should take complete control of Hanover for the time being. I know that you have been a guiding force for Hanover, and that you have ruled our fair Nation with grace, and poise, and done a fabulous job. But in the face of the fact that several of our prominent Citizens being indisposed, we need to have your total hands-on approach - I know this is more time-consuming for you, Your Majesty, but you can do it - we have the uttmost faith in you that you can do this for Hanover.

AND, I also see that our Citizens are so very special, and very valued for their opinions, and their actions, and their reactions to the events that go on in Hanover.

So, if I may be allowed to give a TINY thought to my fellow-Countrymen, it would be this:

Be proud of Hanover - it can bring so much to your life.

Be proud of His Majesty - he gives so much to us, and brings so much benefit to Hanover.

Be proud of your own ability to contribute, in whatever way, to make Hanover a bettter place to live, to laugh, and to enjoy . . .

And let's be proud of each other - that we can all live together in harmony, and work towards a better future for our great Nation . . .

Gentle Friends, we are what we will make of ourselves - let's take pride in ourselves, and in our future for our families, and for our Country . . .

Thank you . . .

And to all, a Good and Gentle Night . . .
I agree with Rosalie completely.
