If I have a 56K modem, shouldn't I be able to get a faster download speed for various applications and downloads than about 4-5 kps?

I can understand why WinMX is slow because that has other people downloading and stuff, but I'm currently downloading the Windows Antispyware beta and it started at about 50Kps and now it's down to 5.3...

I dont know, my comp does stuff like that too.

I use a modem, and so do most Australians despite the spread of broadband. But as I am now back at Uni, I have access to Australia's only T3 ISP in my room!
