Re: ELECTION: Register as a Candidate
Simon,
No, I don't think there is any need to have official political parties for this Special Election, although there's nothing to stop a candaidate identifying himself with a specific party. It's purpose is really just to fulfill the Constitution's requirements for amendment (which say that only Parliamnt can amend the Constituion), so that we can put our new Constitution in place.
When that is done, I would definitely suggest that you take up a position in the judiciary. It all depends how the Constitutional Convention turns out, really, and what form the judiciary ends up in. If it turns out that I have the power to appoint a judge, I will not hesitate to appoint you if you want the job.
That probably won't be for a little while yet, though - it will take a fair while to sort out this new Constitution. In the meantime, you won't need to be too active in order to be a member of Parliament - just turn up for the votes (or at least the vote to ammend the Constitution).

Typing error. I usually write or type what I see or hear. I must have read vote and typed it. Anyway, I hope this has not caused too much confusion.
