Re: Instrument of Abdication
Dear Hanoverians,
My predecessor, James I, set a good precedent upon his own abdication. By stepping down from the throne when he no longer felt he could rule Hanover in full faith and to the best of his ability, he has ensured that the future kings of Hanover will also only rule when they can do so in full faith, to the best of thier ability. We will never have a king without the loyalty and trust of all Hanoverians, and the will to work towards greatness for his Kingdom.
Following the rejection of my proposal of union with Morovia, and discussions with many of the citizens of Hanover, I have decided to step down from the throne. Having made, by asking my Prime Minister to propose the Articles of Union to Parliament, a declaration of my willingness to give up the throne of Hanover for the sake of unity between two nations, I can no longer rule Hanover in full faith.
I believe my appointed successor, Char-Lez, Duke of Gottingen, who will become King mere minutes after I have sent this message, will rule Hanover in the apirit of the people, who he has served so thoroughly and faithfully throughout his citizenship.
I see each vote against the Articles of Union as a declaration of faith in the survival and prosperity of Hanover as an independent kingdom. Only the determined upholding of those declarations - the hard work of Hanover's citizens - will lead to prosperity. For myself, I will retain my citizenship in Hanover, and I will do whatever I can to aid Hanover's growth, and the reign of her new King. To him, and all of you, I wish the best of luck.
Sincerely,
Thomas, Duke of Brunswick

Char-Lez I of Hanover??? I figured as much...I hope that you will remain active in the Kingdom of Pendronia, Char-Lez, if you can. Otherwise, maybe we should bust out another plan for Hanoverian/Pendronian union. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START 8) -->

Now, don't bring that up again! I don't think HSM King David wants another near-revolt on his hands.<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START

This is news to me, and I'm somewhat regretful to see it happen. Then again, it might be akin to the Queen Juliana episode in European constitutional government.
Good luck, Charles I. Try not to get beheaded by Parliament. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START

King Char-lez, I would say you have a hard act to follow, but in all honesty, you don't. I wish you all the best, I hope Tom enjoys Morovia, and I hope that those who believe Hanover, for some strange reason, is not Morovia will pursue the idea as they see it with all they possess.

Wow, this is rather odd...usually when a government bill is defeated (the unification bill was introduced by the Prime Minister), the government resigns and a new election is called...the monarch usually doesn't abdicate....

Re: Instrument of Abdication
Well, I think the monarch in this case proposed the bill.
I think he felt, due to the failure of the bill and the animosity it generated, he could no longer serve as monarch effectively.
That's how it seems to me, anyway. Of course, I'm an outsider, probably don't have all the facts.<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START
