Friends,
Today is the first day of my 30 day experimental use of FireFox as my default browser. I decided to use FireFox as a replacement to IE because my IE has, yet again, become infected with a hijack. IE just has way too many security holes to be considered a viable tool, and yet, is the standard so most of the content on the web is IE compliant.
Still, I finally got pissed off enough to try someting new, again.
So far, so good. Only a few minor issues. For example, my MSN Messenger will not use FireFox when I want to look at my hotmail account. Grrrr.
Also, it has some annoying messages about passwords and such I have not figured out how to shut off.
And worst of all, it does not like the way I try to do FTP. Hmmm, that could be an issue.
But in the plus columns:
- Much reduced exposure to hijacks
- Seems to be a tad faster than IE
- It's open source (and free, like IE)
Anyway, I'll keep you posted on this experiment in case you are considering making the jump.
Regards,
HM Alexander of All Hanover
