Though I would have to add one,

1. John Safran is really cool and is always right
2. John Safran appears to believe in some form of god
3. God exists.

Quote:
Can a Jew join the Ku Klux Klan? In Episode Three, John travels to Orange County, California to meet the KKK Grand Dragon - and puts forward a convincing case. Back in Melbourne, local Catholic priest Bob Maguire introduces John to the principals of Catholicism Father Bob style. Finally, John muses on his automatic right to Israeli citizenship and offers to share this citizenship with some of his Palestinian friends. But there's a catch...

John Safran Vs God is a program on Australian television station SBS

I get the feeling that it might appeal to Bill.

im not even going to try to post on this topic with any relevance because i have been too latley questioning my faith.
OOoh, if you're questioning your faith, Matthew, perhaps you should come to my church sometime.....
Mabey I will, I do live near you and I know how odd your mom is so i just might. On second thought I really dont want to be sitting for an hour or so on the same bench as your mom she scares me to much ( sorry if i offended you but I dont think I did)
My Mother is a scary person... with her nerves of steel and iron will..
Well if your questioning your beliefs (its healthy, we should all question that which we take from granted), a book that was instrumental in shaping my beliefs that you may find interesting is the Humanist anthology:

Btw, I consider myself a humanist, my preffered definition of which would be

"someone who believes in human ability and morality without recourse to a supernatural being or force".
Perhaps you would like to attend a Latin High Mass with me sometime, Matthew.
To me the evidence of God's existence is so clear that only an idiot would not believe in God.
And I also, Jordan. I believe part of the book Gods and Demons in which the scientist that is murdered believed that Science was not proof of God's non-existence, but that all sciences study the Earth that God gave us, and that each new discovery is but another example of how He exists. So I believe Atheist Scientists are an oxymoron.

Thats a nice sentiment. I personally hold the same opinion about people who believe in God.

I take it one step further though, I believe people should not believe in god, even if such an entity were to exist. The only half decent reason I can see for believing in god is the promotion of moral behavior, however I do not believe morality should be motivated by the fear of punishment, or the desire for reward. I am one of those romantics that believe that the pursuit of good for self interested reasons is not desirable, but rather that the highest morality is that which is persued for its own sake.

I also dont believe that religion provides morality, as morality exists independently of religion.

Again, I advise reading the Humanist Anthology to get a bit of an understanding of the moral frame work that I see myself as operating within.
