To all whom it may concern,

It has come to my attention that there are several inconsistencies in the Royal Arms of Hanover and the Commonwealth dominions which violate the Laws of Arms. These I have, with the permission of His Majesty the King and the aid of His Royal Highness the Prince of Emden, endevoured to correct, after researching the Royal Heraldic traditions of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany to obtain the relevant precendent. The revised blazons for each of His Majesty's realms, and for His realms as a whole, are thus:

The King of Hanover: Gules, three Lions Passant Guardant Or.

The King of Calormen: Azure, a Rose Gules barbed and seeded Proper.

The King of Athenoi: Azure, three Fluers-de-Lis Argent.

The King of Hanover, Calormen, and Athenoi: Per Quarterly, I and IV Hanover, II Calormen, III Athenoi.

The Supporters, Compartment, Crest, etc. for each Achievement will be identical. Royal Badges will also be issued, and will be specific to each Achievement.

In the coming weeks I will prepare individual Letters Patent correcting these arms, and will supply His Majesty with the proper achievements. Any questions regarding the Heraldic basis for these changes, or general comments, should be directed to this thread or to my office directly.

Sincerely,

The Lord Pious
What was originally wrong with it?
Royal Arms are supposed to be based upon the arms of the King's individual realms. Ours weren't. Furthermore, the arms of the German Kingdom of Hanover were inescutcheoned, which would only be appropriate if HM ruled that physical state.
We have a German Kingdom of Hanover?
No, as in the real, physical Kingdom of Hanover. It's now part of Lower Saxony in Germany, I believe.
Oh, right, that hanover.... no wonder I was confused... Didn't Bismarck say during the KulturKampf that SOuthern Germas aren't real Germans smilie
Hanover's more towards the North....
smilie But still in Saxony which is too the south I beleive
Thank you for the information.
What's with the Maltese cross for Athenoi? I thought they had the three fleurs-de-lis? Or is that too French?
