Are We Ready?

Folks,
I want to call an election (the purposes of which have already been made known to you) immediately after I finish the Census. That will most likely be in one week's time. Will that be enough time for you to get things ready?
With any luck, this will be our first smooth-running election, thanks to the excellent work of the people of this Commission.

Your Majesty,
If by "ready" you mean able to start the process, yes. But if by "ready" you mean able to conduct the actual vote, no.
Immediately upon the close od the census the RCE shall declare all citizen registered to vote electronically per ezBoard. I believe ezBoard can accomodate our needs for this election cycle. Citizens with no ezBoard pose a problem and special considerations can be made on an exceptional basis.
Then a time period needs to be set for candidates to declare and register themselves with the RCE.
Then a suitable campaign period needs to pass for candidates to state their positions and objectives.
Then the votes need to be cast, collected, tallies and ratified.
Then a time period has to pass for possible challenges.
Then, FINALLY, a result ratification takes place, and the winners can be sworn into office.

Char-Lez Braden

We can skip the "campiang period". THat can happen at the same time as the registration period, and there doesn't need to be much campaigning anyway as this is a single-purpose Parliament.
How long do you think this process will take overall?

Re: Are We Ready?

Your Majesty,
Any of the time frames can be adjusted.
Time period needs to be set for candidates to declare and register themselves with the RCE.
3 days
Then a suitable campaign period needs to pass for candidates to state their positions and objectives.
ommitted, but I suggest SOME time here. Even if it is only a day or two.
Then the votes need to be cast, collected, tallies and ratified.
4 days, maximum. Polls close if everyone votes. (Will you be voting?)
Then a time period has to pass for possible challenges.
This is a variable time. If no one challenges the results then we can go straight to ratification and swearing in. If someone DOES challenge the results then a review process is called for. I predict a smooth election with no challenges. So a short time, like 2 days for any possible challenge.
Then, FINALLY, a result ratification takes place, and the winners can be sworn into office.
One day for ratification.
One day for swearing in.
TOTALS
Declarations: 3 days
Campaign: 2 days
Vote: 4 days
Challenge: 2 days
Ratification: 1 day
Swearing in: 1 day
-----------------
TOTAL 13 days.
Assuming all citizens declared as registered.
Week 1:
Sunday = Nothing
Monday = Open declaration of candidates
Tuesday = Open declaration of candidates
Wednesday = Last day of declaration of candidates
Thursday = Announcement of final ballot
Friday = Campaign
Saturday = Capaign
Week2:
Sunday = Campaign
Monday = Open of polls
Tuesday = Open polls
Wednesday = Open Polls
Thursday = Last Day of polls
Friday = Challenge period
Saturday = Last day to challenge
(assuming no challenges)
Week3:
Sunday = ratifcation of results
Monday = Swearing in

That sounds good.
Will you be able to start this process straight away? You have the passwords to the RCE e-mail address and stuff somewhere on this forum, and you have all the necessary authority.
If you need anything from me, just ask here, or by e-mail. I don't know if Steve can help, but if you need any other assistance I'm sure we can rustle someone up. I'd like to start the process by Wednesday at the latest.
Thanks alot,

Yes. Five seats in Parliament. But it doesn't matter if fewer than five people register as candidates, we'll just have fewer seats.
