With the foundation of the Empire growing closer and closer, I want to discuss the Empire's future heraldic devices.

Do any of you have ideas...I have an idea such as this...

maybe use the sun in some way...sun never sets on the Carinthian Empire....

two crowns...

ideas?
I propose using the Emperor Napoleon's Heraldic System.

Christopher Livingston

Bishop Harvey,

What is it with you and the Napoleonic Heraldry system?

Something similar to the Austro-Hungarian system seems more appropriate, what with two Monarchies and all... of course, I'd rather just use the British system, but oh well...

As far as symbolism is concerned: I myself am partial to the more traditional symbols of Empire, viz. eagles, lions, etc. But the question is, will the sun actually never set on the Empire? i.e., are we dispersed through many time zones?

Sincerely,

The Lord Pious
I like to jab at HRH Justin whenever I can, Fr. Livingston smilie

I like the Eagle.
Thats not a wise thing to do...

BTW, we need something more original than the eagle..I dont thik many are in favor of l'aigle
I don't think we should be using any specific "system", or whatever. Just do what looks good, and gets across the proper message.

We have to symbolise, most importantly, the joining of two (or more) nations. Personally, I would veer away from animal symbols and towards architectural symbols: something being held up by two or more columns, perhaps? If we do, in fact, end up with the name "Carinthia", they could even be "corinthian" columns. smilie

In any case, I think we need to be original, and not copy any specific European style (although, on the other hand, we don't want a "corporate logo" like the flag of St Lucia). I also think we need bold imagery, and not a lot of complexity - there's no way we can combine our two existing coats of arms, for instance. We need to think up something new.
Have the Pendronians been invited to partake in this discussion?
If they come here they can participate. However, they don't seem inclined to be willing to not have their bison in it. Thomas....If we do, in fact, end up with the name "Carinthia", they could even be "corinthian" columns. <_< Very thoughtful. I do like the column idea....but in a shield....It looks funny with just two columns in a shield... a bridge...tower...or a beacon fire(to symbolize we are the first micronational empire{of this kind} and we are a light to the rest....) I like that...with a crown above it...or a crown on each side. We can use Spain's Columns of Hercules on the sides like they do and have a crown above each...I love the different Imperial eagles...myself which we could have the shield on its breast....
You said yourself "we need something more original than the eagle". I agree. Eagles have been symbols of totalitarian and anti-humanitarian regimes like Tsarist Russia and Nazi Germany. I think we need something different.
Although I don't agree with this political-correctness-behaviour not to use any symbols that have been used by regimes before, I do agree that the eagle is a bit worn out.

The lion is the heraldic animal of real Hanover (I don't want to go into the whole story of it), and my second choice would be a horse.
